Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki was recently interviewed on the podcast Na Grösslingovej 53, hosted by students of the Bratislava International School of Liberal Arts, where Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki teaches law and human rights. She spoke at length about her life in Istanbul, Türkiye’s current foreign policy, and its EU accession process.

Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki was recently interviewed by Art in Fusion about human rights, diplomacy and the power of law in a changing world. She spoke about her contribution to the field, her professional plans for the future and emphasised the importance of her focus on young people.

“It’s about people. About dignity. About whether our young people live long enough to grow old.” This was the message of the keynote speech, which Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki delivered at the Creative Women Platform’s Gateway to a Sustainable Future Forum on 9 May 2025 in Plaisterers’ Hall in London. Every 9 May for the past 25 years of her academic career, Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki has asked her students, “What does the future mean to you?”. She gives her answer in the title of her keynote: “The Sustainable Future is Human.” Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki reminded the attendees that while the sustainability that is conventionally associated with the environment is a priority for the young generations, in a world of several ongoing conflicts and wars, there is even greater concern — the young lives that have been lost to war, and the irrevocable change to lives of those who had survived. With a quiet sense of urgency—not one that seeks attention, but one that naturally commands it—she concluded just as she had started: sustainability is human.

On 24 March 2025, Assoc. Prof. Tiryaki appeared on the Slovak Television and Radio’s program Rádiožurnál o 12, where she spoke about the recent mass protests in Istanbul after the arrest of the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu. 

On 21 January, Dr. Tiryaki appeared on the live broadcast of Slovak National Television’s news segment Aktuality:24 to discuss the recent meeting between Slovakia’s Prime Minister Róbert Fico and Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, held on 20 January in Ankara. During the interview, Dr. Tiryaki provided insights into the implications of the strategic cooperation agreement signed by the two leaders.

On 5 December 2023, Dr Tiryaki was interviewed by Slovak National Radio and Television about the current situation in Gaza. She addressed the role of Qatar in the conflict and its relation with Turkey. She also touched upon the wider geopolitical implications.

Dr Tiryaki was quoted in an article published by the Slovak daily news Denník N. She commented on the recent meeting between Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi and the implications of the meeting in light of the current events.

On 25 March 2013, Dr Tiryaki was interviewed by Hürriyet Daily News about how Russia will use the economic crisis in Greek Cyprus to get more involved in Greek Cypriot politics. Dr Tiryaki commented that “although at first sight it looks as if the economic crisis should make it more difficult to reach a solution to the island’s division, it is still too early to definitely judge whether the crisis will have a positive or negative effect on negotiations between the two sides on the island.”
